Precalciners

A precalciner is a shaft heat exchanger used for the preheating and partial calcining of material before it is burned in a rotary kiln.

The amount of material processed is regulated by a discharging device controlled by a hydraulic drive positioned on the level of the combustion product inlet to the material layer. Advantages include independent regulation of material flow according to the outlet temperature of combustion products connected to other regulation circuits and a superior automatic regulation system. In processing extremely friable and loamy material, air cannons can be used to prevent the buildup of deposits.
